About the artwork
"Snowman" continues Konstantin Chaykin's line of holiday graphic works, where the Horological Archetypes take on a festive, calendar-bound reading. Three gears, stacked vertically in decreasing size from bottom to top, echo the canonical silhouette of a snowman: the largest wheel forms the base of the figure, the middle one becomes its body, and the smallest, topped with a watch hand, stands in for the head. The artwork demonstrates the very premise underlying the author's entire Horological universe: a recognisable image can be assembled from purely mechanical elements, with nothing added beyond what already exists within the construction of a watch calibre.
The composition is set within a frame styled after a pocket watch case, with screws at each of its four corners, while an engraved plaque beneath the image reads "Happy New Year!" The postcard thus takes on the format of a New Year's greeting while turning the watch movement into a festive image, placing the Horological Archetype within a calendar, holiday context.

Time is not merely a measure. It is a philosophical dimension, an inexhaustible source of inspiration, and the central subject of my art universe.
