About the artwork
At the core of the "Lunokhod Tourbillon" blueprint lies an idea about the kinship between a watch movement and the universe. According to William Paley's argument, a complex, precisely ordered structure, whether a watch or the cosmos itself, carries the trace of its creator. In "Lunokhod Tourbillon", Konstantin Chaykin realises this idea by building the Moon directly into the movement's construction: here, the moon phase display appears as a structural element, fused with the circular form of the dial.
The blueprint is executed in graphite pencil in the manner of a working drawing. Hatching renders the volume of the case and the relief of the dial, while axis lines drawn across the horizontal and vertical of the sheet establish the proportions of the future model. Handwritten notes in the margins, marking the tourbillon, a second time zone (GMT), the day of the week, the minute assembly, and the case diameter (44 mm), name the remaining components of the construction and record the very process of arriving at an engineering solution.

Time is not merely a measure. It is a philosophical dimension, an inexhaustible source of inspiration, and the central subject of my art universe.
