About the artwork

On the blueprint ‘Cinema’ Konstantin Chaykin translates cinematic optics into the language of Horological Art. The rectangular watch case, recalling the form of a vintage camera lens, is rendered through the artist's original method. The dial takes shape through the division of a circle, the symmetry of the case is defined by its axes, and the transition from the rectangular lines of the frame to the circular form of the movement is achieved by the joining of arcs.

The crowns, shaped as lens barrels, and the strap, styled after film perforation, turn the watch case into an instrument for the optical observation of time. In this blueprint, a movement’s detail exists alongside the image of an adjacent technical device, allowing ‘Cinema’ to be read as a transitional work within the universe of Horological Archetypes.
Universum ‘Horological Graphic Art’
Time is not merely a measure. It is a philosophical dimension, an inexhaustible source of inspiration, and the central subject of my art universe.
