Universum ‘Time-Magic Enchantresses’

The ‘Time-Magic Enchantresses’ Universum continues Konstantin Chaykin's visual philosophy of time. The master turns to ancient and folkloric conceptions of feminine beings holding power over time and the elements. The artist reinterprets their images through the language of Horological Art, transforming a mythological figure into a construction where every detail obeys the logic of the watch movement. Each enchantress becomes an independent Horological Archetype, possessing her own history and fate.

The Universum rests on the principle of mechanical anatomy, a method of building an artistic image where watch components replace anatomical forms. The balance, the hairspring, the bridge, and the regulator, responsible for precision of rate, become at once the body and the character of the heroine. Erotomorphism, running through the entire Universum, endows technical assemblies with a sensual and archetypal form, uniting mechanics, corporeality and symbolic energy into a single artistic image.

The works of the Universum are executed predominantly in acrylic: this material underscores the constructive nature of the images and allows each Horological Archetype to retain its functional recognizability while acquiring a new, metaphorical meaning. As a result, the mythological image and the watch movement form a composition in which the mythic, the anthropomorphic and the mechanical coexist.
