About the exhibit

The concept behind the artwork 'Dance' rests on the idea that the precision of a movement and the harmony of a dancing couple obey one and the same principle, the alternating coordination of movement. In this canvas, Konstantin Chaykin creates one of his Horological Archetypes, where an engineering component takes on a metaphorical form without losing its own recognisability.

The principle of anthropomorphism, on which the work is built, unfolds here through a logic of difference: the two figures share a common structure, yet each is crowned with a different type of wheel. This visual difference itself becomes a form of connection, since any duet is built precisely on the contrast between its unmatched parts. The detail joining the two figures and physically holding them together functions as the very link without which a pair, mechanical or human, could not exist at all.
Cycle: Universum "Horological Archetypes"
In Haute Horology, an idea is resolved into engineering. In artwork, it remains a living thought, captured in the moment.
