About the exhibit
Konstantin Chaykin's painting ‘Landscape 2’ embodies the path of the master watchmaker and his manufacture. The artwork represents an extended system of symbols, where each element carries multiple layers of meaning. Unlike earlier works, where mechanical details remained flat, here Chaykin gives the images volume and material density, turning the canvas into a space where the earthly and the heavenly, the mechanical and the spiritual exist within a single dimension. The road stretching into the distance becomes a metaphor for the master's journey toward the unattainable. Its biblical subtext refers to the earthly path of man, full of trials and the search for truth.
The gear recalls the Star of Bethlehem, pointing out that even in mechanics there is room for miracle. Three pillars with balance wheels, standing like trees, symbolise the dual vision of the artist‑engineer, in which calculation and intuition work in synchrony. The cloud, rendered geometrically, disrupts the usual lightness, subjecting air itself to the laws of Horological Art.
