Mother's Bouquet of Time

About the exhibit

On the canvas ‘Mother's Bouquet of Time,’ Konstantin Chaykin draws a parallel between the continuous work of a watch movement and the natural Universum. This endless circle, where the end always turns into a new beginning, is reflected by the master through flowers assembled from watch components, employing his original genre of Horological Art. The painting makes visible the same rhythm in the movement’s operation as in the birth, blossoming and fading of plants.

Every element on the canvas has a precise prototype. Blue bridges become stems, ruby stones turn into buds, and the star‑shaped seconds wheel opens like an aster. One of the stems branches into three, and on each of them buds are formed by the seconds, minutes and hours wheels. The units of time, growing into natural forms, become linked to the Universum of life.

This painting stands as a metaphor for the mechanical circle of a watch's work, reflecting the natural Universum that is equally eternal, continuous and fragile in every single moment.
