Possibility 2

Canvas ・ Acrylic ・ 60×60 cm

  • The handwritten numerals soften the strict geometry of the composition and bring the feeling of a live, personal gesture — a reminder of the person making the decision.
  • The fine guilloché pattern radiates from a single point like a fan of possible scenarios: each one not yet realized, but already contained within the strict geometry of the decision already made.
  • The supporting ruby jewel rises above the composition, transforming from a functional detail into an image of the stability needed at the moment of decision.
  • From a single point of origin, a fan of possibilities unfolds: as one moves toward the future, the space of possible scenarios grows ever wider.

About the exhibit

In business, there is a moment when a decision has already been made, but the result is yet to come — and the wait is anxious. It is a state between action and its consequences, when the future is already determined but not yet revealed. Konstantin Chaykin captures this state in the artwork ‘Possibility 2.’ The canvas becomes a symbol of luck that is already close but not yet tangible.

To embody this concept, Chaykin builds a concise mechanical composition: two golden planes converge at a sharp angle, forming a triangle, inside which a silver fan of the retrograde scale shimmers. The artwork's hidden geometry, the symmetry of the planes and the radius of the retrograde arc transform a mechanical component into an allegory of a high order, devoted to the artwork's theme — future opportunities that arise at the moment of an important decision and follow the anxious waiting for its outcome.
