About the exhibit
Traditional high-grade antique timepieces typically feature brass and gilded plates and bridges, along with parts made of steel or brass. Konstantin Chaykin feels that this colour palette, with its occasional ruby accents, most of all reminds him of early autumn – golden foliage filled with sunlight and touched by the first frosts. The subject of the artwork is the Autumn calendar module created for the ""The Four
Seasons” clock.
The artwork ‘Autumn’ became the first embodiment of this idea in artwork, making its debut at the master's personal exhibition. The golden palette with occasional ruby accents follows the logic of the watch movement: the plates and bridges of antique timepieces suggest to the artist the hue of early autumn, filled with sunlight and touched by the first frosts. In this way a season of the year, usually tied to nature's Universum, receives a Horological Archetype, while the artwork captures a thought not yet realized in the metal.
