In this painting, Konstantin Chaykin tried to convey the feeling of the golden-sand style of finishing the details of the dial and mechanism of the Sandmann watch, which prompted him to choose this name for the watch.
In addition, he was attracted by the interpenetration of different cultural layers in this subject: the romantic magical world created by E.T.A. Hoffmann with the character of the novel “The Sandmann”, which is embodied in the watches of the Wristmons collection, and the concept of “sands of time”, which is usually associated with the unstoppability of time, which runs out like the sand in an hourglass.
