Sketch of the “Smilodon” watch
- Watercolor paper
- Pencil
- 24×32 cm
- 2022
In this sketch, Konstantin Chaykin depicts one of the preliminary versions of the “Smilodon” model, which was ultimately brought to life in the finished watch with almost no changes.
The main idea he sought to express in this design was the interplay of features from different historical eras. Here, Konstantin Chaykin combines the image of the tiger, one of the twelve creatures of the Chinese zodiac cycle, with the terrifying sabre-toothed tiger, or smilodon, which became extinct on the American continent around ten thousand years ago.
